About Emanate / Crenellate…

Emanate / Crenellate is a new group of releases by Diamond Terrifier (aka Sam Hillmer), the first of which is a collection of performances recorded live in Milan. A suite of related projects surround the album including further performances, collaborations, installation, a written essay, and an on going remix, or reconstruction, project. As each of these projects gain momentum and find expression, documentation will be shared on this website. Emanate / Crenellate is a release series, and also a process, the end goal of which is to achieve depth of engagement with people, communities, and places through music and performance.

About Diamond Terrifier…

Diamond Terrifier is Sam Hillmer, a Brooklyn-based musician, artist, and curator. He is the founding member of the band Zs, creative director of the Queens-based venue H0L0, and one half of the art duo Trouble (with Laura Paris). Diamond Terrifier is his solo saxophone project, though sometimes features electronics and/or a host of collaborators.

Recent collaborations include work with Tauba Auerbach, Dirty Projectors, Laurel Halo, Arto Lindsay, and Eartheater.

Past projects include Wet Ink, Moth, and the SEM Ensemble, among others.

Diamond Terrifier has released records with Styles Upon Styles, Terrible Records, and Norther Spy Records. The first of the Emanate / Crenellate series is due out on Shinkoyo Artist Pool at some point in the future.
